One can be sure of having a good time laughing while talking with Rene Poro with his jovial and infectious smile. Being the assistant vice president for operations of FAST Autoworld Philippines Corp. (FAPC), the local dealer of Mitsubishi vehicles in the Visayas and Mindanao, Rene goes about his day-to-day operations with nothing but optimism.
This quality of his is one of the reasons he has been with the company for so long. Rene started out as HR manager of Mitsubishi in May of 1999.
His constant technique of encouraging his employees to do better and be better enabled him to rise and become the general manager of sales and marketing in 2005.
A year later, he became the VP for operations. But the journey to success wasn’t always easy. “The market in the early 2000s in Cebu was okay compared to today.
Like 2016. There is a 26% growth in sales compared to 2015,” Rene said in an interview. With Mitsubishi having been number four in the industry, Rene made it his mission and his goal to raise the company’s standing in the automotive industry.
With hard work and perseverance, he was able to lend a helping hand in lifting Mitsubishi up to be one of the car brands that is well-loved and well-known in the metro. Rene says that his belief in God has helped him keep his faith in his job and his life.
“Everyone says I am such a joker. I like to joke a lot because I believe that we should always see the funny side of things, even in bad situations.” And with nothing but a positive outlook on life and for the company, Rene aims to make 2017 a fruitful year, especially with Mitsubishi bringing in big things for the year, and ultimately, bringing in more success.
